What kind of a question is that?
How could it be anything else?
During meditation you are simply sitting there. You are not eating. An obviously physical activity. You are not sleeping. You are not exercising. So one must conclude that Meditation must be spiritual.
I beg to disagree.
When I meditate I don't just sit there. I do a distinctly physical activity as I am sitting. I am breathing. And.. I am focusing on my breath. I am watching it. I am looking for how deeply I can go. How much deeper into my cells I can breathe, and activate the dormant energy inside of me.
This is a physical activity.
There is no such thing as a physical activity or a spiritual activity. There really is no separation between the physical and the spiritual. each is so deeply intertwined in the other, that they are truly one.
Every moment that you live and breathe in your physical reality you are existing in this physical reality. And every single aspect of your ability to experience anything spiritual is completely dependent on your physical processing system to have that experience.
Every single feeling you ever have registers in your body as a physical sensation. Most often we don't think about it, but if you take a moment to stop and feel your body. Think of how your body feels when you are sad, now think about how you feel when you are laughing, really laughing. Now think of shame and fear. Can you tell how your body actually shifts into different sensations physicaly?
And when you are having a spiritual experience can you recognize how your entire body feels lighter? inspired? Did you know that in Latin, the word inspire, spirit, and breathe are the same word?
Yes, when you feel inspired, you actually begin to breathe differently, either rapid and excited drawing in more breathe. Or slower and deeper filling you with a sense of calm.
So do you see that all of our entire emotional and spiritual experiences leave their imprint on our bodies, and are experienced through our bodies.
In the comments below, let me know what you think about spirituality and physicality and the roles they play in your life.
Hope to hear from you soon!
